Thanks for visiting! So, hi there, I’m Wendy Hay it’s awesome you found me and Paleo with Cream.
Once upon a time, actually before November 2013, as a low fat, yo-yo dieter I was inspired by my two sons and Marks Daily Apple, (Mark Sisson’s go to site for primally inspired/paleo living) to change the way I viewed and ate food. I threw out the grains, refined sugar, seed oils and processed food. I focused on eating real food, lowering my carbohydrate intake and amping up my intake of healthy saturated fats. To me an awesome thing happened; I lost my food cravings.
So I no longer count calories or have sugar or carb cravings or crashes. Instead I am now enjoying the freedom of guilt free eating and re-learning to recognise when I am full, something I lost as a yo-yo low fat dieter, something very hard to do when you are used to eating (or not eating), all day. A new way of eating and a new way of viewing food was found and like magic it worked and it continues to work for me.
As I started re-learning ways of cooking for my lifestyle, I started gathering a new collection of recipes and they needed to find a home. Encouraged by my partner in life and my children, Paleo with cream was born out of the desire to make sure each new recipe I cooked could be easily found and shared with like minded people.
So what’s with the cake? Purists may be thinking that this is another paleo treats blog. Yes I admit to baking up and blogging treats. My strategy for this, and the irony of the creamy cake is, that one way to transition to this healthy lifestyle is to show that you can have your cake and eat it too – initially.
It is only after you start to dig deep that you realise, well yes, I can have these treats – on occasion but today I’ve had my carb load with some tasty duck fat roasted root veges, so I’ll save that cake for another day. Over time I hope that people will start looking at the cafe treat cabinet and think – not eating that, I can make better. Over time the mindset moves, because you don’t feel deprived.
That said, I’d hate you to miss out on new yummy recipes and thought provoking posts, so sign up and don’t be shy; let me know what you like or don’t like and what you want to see more of.
I hope my blog inspires you to join me on this journey or just gives you a few great recipes.
