Nograinola – the nutty no grains & no gluten breakfast.

I love my bacon and eggs in butter fry-up every day, and it really, truly doesn’t take so long to cook. However, even with the best of intentions some mornings can just go wrong all the way.  I say it’s when the Morning Devils come out to play.

You know how it goes – sleep through the alarm, nothing in the wardrobe looks right, poke your finger through your tights and then to add insult to injury you get that kink in your hair cos you’ve over heated it with your straighteners.

Guys – you may not relate to the above but I’m sure there are Morning Devils at your house to. You can guess – cut yourself shaving, bleeds again on your clean shirt, iron a new one only to find a stain on the last bit you are ironing, can’t find your phone/keys/the other shoe, you know stuff like that!

Cut with the ramble and get to the point! Here is something quick for your breakfast. It doesn’t take to long to prepare (well maybe an hour tops!) and keeps for a couple of weeks in an airtight container.

So on those mornings when you need breakfast in a rushola, grab a bowl of Nograinola.  Throw on a blob of Greek yoghurt/cream/almond milk and add a handful of berries or whatever and you’re good to go.

Healthy Fudge- Your way

As a six year old I was expert at making chocolate fudge that was the best I have ever tasted.   Yes, I am a show off!    But, of course it was full of sugar; cups and cups of it.    Going primal and refined sugar free, well my fudge is no longer an option 😦     So when I came across this recipe from RAD Cooks – wow!

I love that the recipe encourages you to try other flavours.    I am going to go with the coconut theme and add some desiccated coconut.

-This fudge recipe is adapted from Honey Mama’s Nectar Fudge

It is actually kind of interesting. Christy, the owner of Honey Mama’s, is my neighbor. She is super nice and seriously has a passion for this stuff. She sells to stores in Portland, and is expanding to Washington! She even ships… its a dream. And, you know the video, Honey Mama’s: Redefining Fudge, on her about page? I directed and edited it! She was awesome to work with. Anyways, you have to try her fudge. My imitation is good, but who can refuse fudge made with an old family recipe made by a wonderful woman, in a cute package?

Where my fudge diverges from hers is the accents. I have developed a spice and a fruit version, in addition to the original.

As you can see, this fudge is like none other you most likely would have ever tried. It has…

Macadamia Ginger Crunch

It’s nearly the end of the week here so it must be time for something tasty.

Yes, it is still dark and cold outside after work and if you live in Auckland, New Zealand, it is most likely raining.  I know you just want to blob in front of the TV, but this easy to make (I seem to say this a lot!), healthy nuttyish slice will be so tasty in your lunch box tomorrow, you really do need to get off the couch and make it now.

That’s my motivating speech or rather my excuse for baking yet another primal treat, maybe a bit lame I know, so tell me if you can think of a better reason!!
